The best IBS and GERD tracker apps in 2026, compared

agni, mySymptoms, Bowelle, the Monash FODMAP app, NoBurn, and MyIBS compared on what matters for GERD and IBS: whether the app finds your triggers, what it logs, and what your doctor gets.

What is the best IBS and GERD tracker app?

It depends on what you need. The apps worth knowing are agni, mySymptoms, Bowelle, the Monash University FODMAP app, NoBurn, and MyIBS. The biggest difference between them is whether the app finds your triggers for you or gives you a diary to read yourself.

If you have GERD or IBS and want the app to do the matching, agni and mySymptoms are the two to look at. agni is built around those two conditions specifically; mySymptoms covers many conditions and runs on Android too.

We make agni, so weigh our view accordingly. Everything we say about another app comes from its App Store or Google Play listing or its own website, checked on October 22, 2026, and linked below. "Not listed" means we could not find that feature described there.

How do the apps compare, feature by feature?

These are the features that matter most for GERD and IBS: whether the app finds triggers for you, what it logs, and what your doctor gets.

What does agni do differently?

agni gives each kind of symptom its own time window after a meal: 15 minutes to 3 hours for reflux, 2 to 8 hours for bloating, up to 3 days for changes in your stool. It marks each possible trigger as learning, confident, or confirmed, so you know how much to trust it.

It is set up for GERD or IBS when you start: reflux symptoms like regurgitation and water brash for GERD; the Bristol stool scale, your IBS subtype, and FODMAP groups on every ingredient for IBS. You can log a meal by photo, barcode, menu, label, or voice, and export a PDF report for your doctor.

agni is iPhone only and launching soon. More on how it works for IBS and for GERD.

What do the other apps do well?

mySymptoms

The most established app that finds triggers automatically, on iPhone and Android. You log food, drink, medication, stress, exercise, sleep, bowel movements, and symptoms, and its analysis flags suspect foods. It covers many conditions beyond the gut, rather than GERD and IBS specifically. Premium is $9.99 a month or $59.99 a year on the US App Store, and the Android version contains ads.

Bowelle

A clean IBS diary. You log how you feel, meals with photos, water, stress, and bowel movements, then chart your data to look for patterns yourself. Free, with an optional premium purchase.

Monash University FODMAP Diet

The reference low FODMAP food guide, from the university that developed the diet. It is a one-time purchase with a diary, but it does not analyze your diary for you, so many people pair it with a tracker.

NoBurn

A reflux app that scans food by photo or barcode and rates foods for acidity, with charts and CSV export. Its listing says food scanning, symptom tracking, and most other features need a subscription.

MyIBS

A free iPhone diary from the Canadian Digestive Health Foundation, with a printable report for your doctor.

What happened to Cara Care?

Cara Care still appears on many "best IBS app" lists, but its consumer app for the US and Canada has not been updated since October 2020. The company now makes a prescription program for patients in Germany. If a list recommends it, check when that list was last updated.

Which app should you choose?

  • You have GERD or IBS, use an iPhone, and want the app to find your triggers: agni.
  • You use Android, or have symptoms beyond the gut: mySymptoms.
  • You are on a low FODMAP diet with a dietitian: the Monash app for the food guide, plus a tracker.
  • You want a free, simple IBS diary: MyIBS or Bowelle.
  • Reflux is your main problem and you want food acidity ratings: NoBurn.

Whatever you choose, the habit matters most: two to four weeks of meals and symptoms with times. Our guide to keeping a food and symptom diary covers what to log.

When to see a doctor

A tracker helps you and your doctor see patterns, but it cannot diagnose GERD or IBS. See a doctor promptly for blood in your stool, trouble or pain swallowing, unexplained weight loss, persistent vomiting, symptoms that wake you at night, or a lasting change in bowel habits after age 50.
